Why You Should Not Take Screenshots of Your Chats on Facebook Messenger

As Position Mobile has learned on Friday from Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, an update on Messenger is coming. The new feature will be notifying users when the person they are talking to, is taking screenshots of their chats. The social media giant said that they are also adding GIFs, stickers, and reactions that until recently were only available on the regular mode of Messenger.

The new feature has already been rolled out in the U.S. and is soon expected to arrive to Europe too. Other messaging platforms such as Snapchat and WhatsApp, already offer similar features that make conversations disappear as soon as the user closes the window and also notifies users when the conversation has been screen-shot.

According to The Verge, “There are two ways Messenger users can opt in to the secure chats, either via vanish mode, by swiping up on an existing chat to enter one where messages automatically disappear when the window is closed or the original version that was introduced in 2016 as Secret Conversations. You can turn that on by toggling the lock icon when you start a new chat.”
